Who We Are

Bio-Trac is a series of daytime Biotechnology Training Courses. These "hands on" lecture and laboratory training courses are offered by the FAES under contract with R/M Nardone Associates, Inc. at the National Institutes of Health.

R/M Nardone Associates, Inc.

R/M Nardone Associates, Inc., a biotechnology training company, is the successor to Roland M. Nardone Associates which was founded in 1973 as a company specializing in short-term training and consultation. The principals of the company work closely with their clients to custom-design and present courses which satisfy the clients special needs.

The Bio-Trac series of biotechnology courses at FAES/NIH has trained over 13,000 post-doctoral scientists during the past nineteen years while other courses have trained sales and production personnel, patent officers, public information officers and technicians. This reflects our ability to cover a wide range of topics at diverse levels of scientific sophistication. Training may entail lectures only or combinations of lecture with laboratory experiments and/or demonstrations.

Principals

Dr. Roland M. Nardone, Founder and former Director of the Center for Advanced Training in Cell and Molecular Biology at the Catholic University of America, is President and organizer of the scientific content of the courses in consultation with the appropriate associates. He also serves as a lecturer whenever it is appropriate. Dr. Nardone has received outstanding awards both for graduate and undergraduate teaching. He maintains an active cell and molecular biology research program dealing with advances in cell culture technology, toxicology and modification of gene expression.

Mr. Mark Nardone is Vice President and Operations Director of R/M Nardone Associates, Inc. A University of Maryland business graduate (finance and marketing), he joined R/M Nardone Associates, Inc. in the fall of 1985. His responsibilities include overseeing day to day operations of the training programs, liaison with the associates, marketing of the scientific programs, and program development. Mr. Nardone brings over 19 years of management experience to the organization.

Dr. Gregory S. Leppert is a graduate of The Catholic University of America where he received both his undergraduate and doctoral degrees. After serving as Co-Founder and Vice President of a biotechnology education and consulting firm for nine years, Dr. Leppert went on to complete a post-doctoral fellowship at The Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Leppert joined R/M Nardone in September of 1999 where, as senior staff scientist, he serves as a lecturer and laboratory instructor for many of the Bio-Trac courses.

The Associates. There are over Two Hundred associates who participate as consultants and instructors for our training programs. Each scientist is an active researcher in his/her area of expertise and possesses excellent communication skills. Each associate prepares for each course a selected reading list, appropriate figures, and other hand-outs to complement their lectures. Furthermore, they serve as resource persons for the trainees after the course has ended, willingly addressing questions related to their presentation. The low turnover rate of our Associates pool ensures experience and continuity.

Custom Designed Courses

In addition to the courses listed, we are able to provide custom designed training programs in biotechnology. If you would like to have a program specifically designed for individuals in your Branch or Laboratory, please contact Mark Nardone
